But it's entirely different from the other diet programs. A different way of thinking. Living Smart - Becoming Thin™ is a series of meetings where information about weight loss and health is provided and where participants can provide support to each other in their weight loss efforts. This website is for reviewing the information you have already received at the meetings. This home page tells much of the basics of the first meeting. You will need to attend the first and second meetings before you can get a password to login and see the other pages. If you have a username and password you should Login because there is more information for you that is not included here. This page helps you decide if you even want to attend the meetings and how you can find a meeting. I put together my own diet program, starting from two or three other programs. I kept working at it until I found what works. It's NOT an 'Eat Less Exercise More' program. Now that I know how to do it, it's easy, although it wasn't easy at the start. I haven't lost all my weight yet, but it's coming off very easily, I eat lots of good food. It's more like a Way Of Eating than a diet. I want to teach you how to do it too. Originally, I was going to call it Arlene's Weight Loss Success Group™. I call it Success Group instead of Support Group because I don't want to just 'hold your hand' and get you through it all. I want you to learn a new way of eating and living and to do that, I might have to tell you the hard truth, change your thinking, and such like that. I also call it Success Group because what I mean by success is this weight loss is permanent - It Works. It will be a natural, healthy routine. You will become Thin For Good. All the meetings start on time, and finish between 1 hour and 1 1/2 hours. There are 3 parts to the meeting. The first 1/3 I will present a topic, the second 1/3 will be Q&A (ask me your questions), and the last 1/3 will be when you can get support, meet people, maybe find a diet partner, etc. The afternoon meetings are Tuesdays at 3 p.m. The evening meetings are 6 p.m. Thursays. Try not to miss a meeting because it is much like a class. I'll be giving you important information each week and if you miss one it will be harder for you. Later on, when there are more meetings, you could try to get into another meeting if you have to miss one. After I finish all 9 meetings and you have all the information, I will start all over again from the beginning so you will have another chance if you missed the first time. There is no fee charged for the meetings. You Pay By Contribution. And I give the suggestion that one or two dollars per week is a good amount to pay. Consider what you would have to pay at other popular diet programs. Consider that I do need to make money if I want to continue having meetings. If this Pay By Contribution method doesn't work out, I will probably begin charging fees in the future. If you can, please contribute more because there will be those that can't pay anything at all. If you want to make an exception, and pay me personally, then please don't let anyone know about it. Everyone who wants to participate must attend the first meeting. Everyone must sign the Agreement and Disclaimer. I give you that at the first meeting and you read it and sign it and turn it in at the second meeting. You cannot attend anything but the first meeting until I have a signed Agreement and Disclaimer. Children may attend but the Agreement and Disclaimer must be signed by a parent. Each one decides the details of the diet within the guidelines. You decide what you eat, not the diet. You need to find out what works for you. I think chemicals were making me fat so I stopped eating foods with additives. But to do this I have to cook everything myself. Your family can eat the same foods you do but they will eat potatoes and you won't. You can cook the same meals for them but they might eat pizza and you don't. You will be 'almost on it'. By this I mean, I go off it for holidays and you might too. And each day I eat a little bit 'off the program'. It's not rigid. It varies for each person. I have organized everything into Laws, Rules, and Good Ideas. If you break the Laws it will be making problems for yourself. The Rules are what you break when you go off the program for holidays and such. The more Good Ideas you can do, the easier it will be for you to lose.
